Okay, so it’s kinda cheesy, but also kind of cool. We all know you can take your pictures and throw them on anything these days – whether it’s postcards, t-shirts, notepads, or whatever – you can turn your photos into pretty much anything! I’ve had a Cafe Press site up for a while but never really utilized it that much. Once I did a t-shirt with the text “Pixels Were Born to Be Punished” as sort of a nod to Frederick Johnson of the TWIP podcast. Sent him a shirt, he got a chuckle – all good fun and games. Then someone told me it’s a great way to monetize and bring more brand identity recognition. So…I decided to give it a whirl.
I took the Canon Blogger logo you all know and love – and emblazoned it on a coffee mug, a water bottle, and a golf shirt! You can check them out online here: Canon Blogger Cafe Press Site
But, the flip side of sites like Cafe Press is – what’s the product quality? There’s only one way to really find out for sure and that’s to buy one. So I did! The coffee mug and the water bottle came in the mail the other day and my first test was running them through the dishwasher to see if the logo stayed put. Test one succeeded!
I think the sip test should go okay too… 🙂
So, what say ye all? Do you have an interest in getting your logo or brand identity out there? Is it worth the investment to get the inventory of products lined up? Would you use Cafe Press? I have close to no margin set on these (like 50 cents…), so for me it’s not really about making money or anything – it’s more just a sort of fun aside. Plus, I got a cool coffee mug out of the experiment! Unless… 😉
