Thank goodness for the blog!
Ever have one of those days where you know that you are doing something wrong with your gear – but for some reason it’s just not clicking (so to speak)? I had just such a day recently. I still have the DIY-style radio triggers from Cactus I bought last year (still have not upgraded to the Cybersyncs), and I was trying to light something off camera for a macro shot with this little solution. Can cards be cool Christmas candy?
Yup, I talk about 3 different types of cards that make for cool holiday gifts this year for the photographer you know. It’s a little late this morning, but we’re now in week 19 of the What’s This? episode series. Last week, there were no guesses, likely because it was a super tough one. The weekly podcast that usually goes up on Tuesdays was supplanted yesterday by the Election Day message. Returning to photography topics today, the weekly podcast has been posted and is ready for your listening enjoyment. I’ll have some notes related to the podcast to include at the end of today’s post. Here’s one for everyone…what’s this? I had to go through some archives to find one that fit what I was looking for this week, but I found it. This is a crop of a larger image. The cloud and haze of my head cold has lifted and I find myself able to think clearly for the first time in several days…almost a week. With the fervor and excitement of the 5D Mark II hitting the blogosphere, and the requisite discussions now settling to a dull roar, it’s time to get back to the business of blogging on everything photography! Last week, I missed the 9th edition of “What’s This?”. On Wednesday the rather long previous day left me without the time to prepare for it, and on Thursday I was wrapped up in the Firmware Upgrade posting, that the weekly “What’s This?” just plain slipped my mind – like Denny Crane from Boston Legal, I must have Mad Cow Disease! No Blog Wednesday
As suspected, the long day yesterday prevented putting together any sort of coherent post for today, so it’s official – today is “No Blog Wednesday”. I will officially share the “What’s This?” answer from last week (Week 8). That was a shot of a candy wrapped in plastic. I captured that at Hammonds Candy Factory here in Denver when we visited in the spring before deciding to make the move out. As readers have reminded me, I fell behind the 8 ball a little on sharing a “What’s This?” pic since we started our move from SC to CO. What’s this? – Week 6
So, any guesses for the latest edition of “What’s This?” Last week, the crop was from some fancy ornate crown molding in a capture from an old plantation house here in SC. It was kind of a stretch as I was pulling from my portfolio, rather than taking a shot specifically with the weekly theme in mind. This week I did a mite better though.
