Flickr Plugin for Lightroom
While recently participating in a Photowalk group outing to Rocky Mountain National Park, with the fellow local photogs, I learned about this great little plugin for Lightroom that allows you to export your photos directly to Flickr…all within Lightroom! It’s a pretty cool little plugin, and as you know, when I learn something new – so do you! This plugin comes courtesy of Jeffrey Friedl, and one of the greatest features of it is the cost – absolutely free! Well, that’s not exactly true, you do need to spend one cent via Paypal, but for a penny, check out what … Continue reading
A Look Ahead…
Just a few news nuggets today of some things that have been going on and simmering on the proverbial stove for the past few weeks. Many of these are now starting to bubble up to the surface, so here’s a little hint as to what I’ve been up to, and what is ahead for the blog and podcast…
Photo Framing Follow-up
After the blog post on Wednesday, and the number of comments received, I thought that the next podcast would be well served to discuss the idea behind matting and framing in more detail. As luck would have it, that podcast just went live earlier this afternoon! You can catch the podcast over at the Personal Life Media site here: Learning Digital Photography Here’s the Show Notes: In this latest episode of Learning Digital Photography, the Grand Prize winner from the September $500 giveaway is announced, and the October contest opens up – ready for your entries. The theme this time … Continue reading
Reviews, Interviews and Vista Views
The latest episode of the Learning Digital Photography podcast is now live and for those of you picking this up in your feeds, make sure you stop over to iTunes or the via PLM to download the show. This week, I go into a little more depth on how I conduct reviews of hardware and software as there have been quite a few listener questions about that particular subject matter. Thanks to everyone who wrote in to share their thoughts and feedback! In the second segment, an interview with fellow photog and NAPP member, Erik Bernskiold where we talk about … Continue reading
When it rains, it pours!
After my post on Monday, with the Best 8 of 2008, CB saw quite a bit of activity, first from some very generous links back from none other than Scott Kelby and Jeff Revell of Photoshop Insider and Photowalk Pro fame. Then, when I did the piece on Tuesday titled “Is Film Making a Resurgence?” based on several discussions and news events, that also saw a fair number of comments. All this came on the heels of a career switch that has me transitioning from the private to the government sector which means condensing about 6 months of work projects … Continue reading
Holiday Photography…
I recently agreed to put together an article for the December issue of the PhotographyBB magazine on “How to Shoot the Holidays”. With the compilation of that nearing completion, I subsequently got an email from Towner Jones Photography to write a guest post over at his blog! Egad! A guest post?!?! Never been asked that before! I was floored. About all I could muddle out was “Well..uuh, I am writing an article for a free online magazine…would that work?” Again, I was floored when he said that’d be great! You could have knocked me over with a feather! So, my … Continue reading
What do Photo walks and software cycles have in common?
Tune in to this week’s episode of the Canon Blogger Podcast Series, Episode #58, from either the blog or your feed readers today! I also tackle a few listener questions, and offer up a photo road tip for the listening audience. So, pick up the feed today, or stop in to the blog to not only download the show, but also to see the other content that isn’t in the daily feeds (things like the Online Photography Test, Colors and Textures Galleries, polls and more! As I tinker a little with the audio quality of the show and try to … Continue reading
Denver Area Photowalk
As some of you may recall, Scott Kelby held a worldwide photo walk a few months ago to promote his new book that was coming out on Lightroom 2. Well, since then several smaller photo walk clubs and groups have formed and begun their own outings. Denver was no exception and our first official photo walk this last weekend had a really good turnout of roughly 15-20 people. About half of us even got together afterward at a local eatery to share stories and get to know one another better. Everyone is posting shots over on the Meetup site and … Continue reading
Making Money off your Photos
In the tightening economy, many of us are considering additional ways of supplementing our income, and as hobbyist photographers, we all have wondered at times whether we could parlay our hobbies into sources of revenue. For a short time I even considered this blog as a possible method for generating revenue. By and large though, I found that the blog was not well-positioned to be a significant source of revenue, for a number of reasons. So, I decided to turn the idea arond, and think about whether my photography could be considered as a source of revenue. Thus far I … Continue reading
Thursday Thoughts with Jason D. Moore
Jason D. Moore is a well known photographer and graphic designer, with ACE certifications on Adobe PS CS3, has extensive experience as a videographer, is a member of the Adobe Acrobat User Community, and also has some extensive experience in web development. Suffice to say, he is very well-known for his Photography and Photoshop Blogroll, and has had several mentions on Photoshop User TV. He also hosts photo walks in the Southern Tier of New York and is just a super nice guy. Last week he and I had a chance to exchange a few emails and I learned quite … Continue reading
Don’t fear the forums!
Today, I take a somewhat introductory look at the prevalence of photography forums across the internet. With communities cropping up for every nuance and interest, one literally has dozens, if not hundreds upon thousands to choose from. Everything from lighting, to portraiture, landscape, architecture, and even food photography has a community of avid participants. What to make of it all? Which ones are good and which are not as beneficial as others? I’ve referenced a few communities here from time to time, including ones that I still participate in on a regular and on-going basis. As my interests wax and … Continue reading
New Blog on the Block!
For anyone who has been into photography for any amount of time more than 6 months, you probably already know about Scott Sherman and Michael Stein, hosts of the popular podcast, titled “The Digital Photography Show.” It has been a mainstay listening choice of mine for over the last year and my commutes would not be the same without it. Well, as it turns out, it seems I may have to adjust to a commute without hearing their friendly voices for a while. Their popular show has been temporarily taken off the air by the folks over at The Podcast … Continue reading
Be careful with Adobe updates!
I was just in the NAPP forums (a great place to learn by the way), and learned about the ACR update. Since I already am good on the gear compatibility side, I went to the readme.txt file to see if there were any other updates to the programs that I should be aware of (Podpress has made me very cautious about updating too soon…) Turns out there are some LR issues with a few tools and with XMP sidecar files versus database entries. If this is all gibberish to you, then don’t worry you are probably fine. For the more … Continue reading
