I know, I just talked about my books yesterday and I certainly don’t want to sound like some shameless self-promotion hound but I saw this after writing yesterday’s post. A few months back I sent a copy of my 50D book to Jason over at CanonBlogger to get his opinion on the book. I mean after all, he is the CanonBlogger. Yesterday evening I got word that Jason had posted a review on his site. He gives a pretty thorough accounting of the book and even called me out on one item that differs from his processes. Hi Tracy,

The way I’ve always done the firmware updates is to download the firmware, expand and then copy the firmware to a blank flash card, and re-insert that back into the camera performing the update directly. I am just used to this method – as it’s the one that Canon did prior to the 50D for all its cameras…the links in the post are to the Canon download and installation instructions – check those out and read the instructional “readme” file where it details each method.

I am a 50D owner and have read a good part of Jeffs book and I view it as a must for a 50D owner.
Easy to understand, very clear and yes the assignments help you to apply what Jeff has instructed.
I am also a daily reader to his blog and find it full of useful information.

You mentioned another option to update the firmware but did not direct the readers/owners
any further. Could you please share more information? I have not been sucessful with the option Jeff suggested.
